Types of diabetes

There are two main types of diabetes; these are known as type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Type 1

diabetes usually develops during childhood; it occurs as a result of the body not being able to produce insulin (this is usually due to damage to the cells that produce insulin).

Type 2

diabetes is more common in people over the age of 40; it usually occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, but it may also occur when the insulin that is produced doesn’t work as it should do.
