Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses water to soothe pain, increase circulation and release tension in the muscles. Hydrotherapy is often carried out in specialised hydrotherapy pools, but may also take place in normal swimming pools provided that they are shallow and filled with warm water. Hydrotherapy allows patients to do exercises they wouldn’t normally be able to do because the water supports the body weight and the body feels weightless. Hydrotherapy is often used on patients who have a limited range of movement, stiff joints and muscle degeneration. Hydrotherapy helps to improve muscle movement, increase nerve activity and reduce pain.
