In many cases, the insurance company will deal with the hospital or consultant directly, so the patient will not need to complete a claim form. In some cases, such as having complementary medical treatments, it may be necessary to fill in a form and then send it back to the insurance provider; this is a simple process which shouldn’t take long. Once the form has been processed by the insurance provider, they should refund you within a short period of time. It is important to check that each stage of your treatment, including diagnostic and after care treatments, are covered by your insurance policy; this can usually be done quickly and easily by telephoning your provider. It is also advisable to tell your GP that you have private medical insurance; they can then refer you to the appropriate consultant for your treatment.
