Invisalign

The Invisalign invisible braces system has been specially designed to help people who need to wear a brace but are afraid of the way it will look. Invisalign braces are clear, removable braces which are made up using a three dimensional image of your teeth. The braces are designed to fit your teeth perfectly so they are much more comfortable than traditional braces. Unlike other methods, the Invisalign braces are replaced every two to three weeks. These braces do not look like other braces, with bulky brackets and metal wires; instead they look more like a gum shield or tray.

How does the Invisalign system work?

The Invisalign braces cause the teeth to move slowly over the course of time without using brackets and wires. In the initial consultation, the image taken of the patients teeth will be used to make a series of braces which will map out the complete treatment; each brace is slightly different and is designed to make the teeth move into the correct position. The braces are changed every 2 weeks.

What benefits does the Invisalign system offer?

The most obvious benefit of the Invisalign brace is the way it looks; it is hardly noticeable, especially compared to other straightening treatments. Many patients really worry about how wearing braces will make them look so this is a great solution for them. The other major benefit is that the braces are removable, which means patients can brush their teeth properly and eat normally. The Invisalign system can also sometimes produce results faster than other treatments; you should ask your dentist about the time your treatment will take.

Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

The Invisalign system is not suitable for all orthodontic problems; however, it is almost always an option for people with crooked and crowded teeth and an under or over bite. Usually, patients with more complex or extensive orthodontic problems will be advised to try another type of brace.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Each patient is different but your dentist should be able to give you an idea of how long the treatment will take after the initial consultation; most patients wear the braces for between 6 and 18 months.

How does the price of Invisalign compare to other treatments?

The cost of treatments vary according to which dentist you choose (dentists fees can vary considerably depending on their qualifications and experience and where the surgery is located). On average Invisalign treatments cost around £2000. Invisalign treatment is more expensive than most other types of orthodontic treatment.
